Getting started
- How do I open a Final Cut Pro library?
Four methods: drag and drop from the Finder into the iFCP Slim window or onto its icon, click the drop zone for a manual selection, or right-click the library in Finder > Open With > iFCP Slim.
- What is the difference between Edit in Progress and Edit Complete?
Edit in Progress removes only renders, sharing files, and AI data — backups, analyses, and transcoded media are kept. Edit Complete also removes analyses and backups: ideal for archiving a finished project and reclaiming maximum space.
- Will my editing projects be affected?
No. iFCP Slim only removes temporary, regenerable files. Your timeline, cuts, effects, and original media remain intact.
- Can Final Cut Pro regenerate deleted files?
Yes. Files removed by iFCP Slim are automatically recreated by Final Cut Pro when you need them: renders, analyses, transcodes.
Troubleshooting
- The deletion buttons are grayed out.
The library is open in Final Cut Pro. Close it in Final Cut Pro, then return to iFCP Slim: the buttons will unlock automatically.
- iFCP Slim cannot access my external drive or a folder.
You may have denied permission when macOS prompted you. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders > iFCP Slim, then enable the required access (removable volumes, Desktop, Documents…).
- The library is not recognized.
iFCP Slim only accepts Final Cut Pro libraries in
.fcpbundleformat. Check that the file is not a broken alias pointing to a library that has been moved or deleted. - I disabled the deletion confirmation and want to re-enable it.
Hold ⌘⌥ at launch to reset all preferences.
